Helene Blanche X Paustian

In autumn 2018 SOFT was launched; a collection of throws and pillows which Helene Blanche exclusively designed for the renowned Danish furniture design house Paustian, who since 1964 has been representing some of the most celebrated and renowned furniture designs for homes and organizations.

The collection takes its point of departure in the classic ‘horse cloth’ textile, that the founder of Paustian, Ole Paustian, started using back in the 1960’s in interiors and for furniture. With a refreshing take on the ‘horse cloth’ textile, SOFT unfolds in a geometric expression and pays homage to the Danish weavers Kim Nauer, Vibeke Klint and Lis Ahlmann, who all contributed to the golden era of Danish Textile design in the 20th century.

“My wish and starting point were to create a woven collection that had roots in Paustian’s history and DNA while creating something new. It was important to me to be faithful to Paustian’s design expression synonymous with their Scandinavian heritage and therefore it was obvious to work with the classic ‘horse cloth’ textile, that the founder of Paustian, Ole Paustian, started using back in the 1960’s in interiors and for furniture, and to let it unfold into a cohesive collection of multiple patterns,” says Helene Blanche.

Using a minimalistic and sophisticated take, Helene Blanche has redefined the softly textured throws by designing a collection with clear references to the ‘horse cloth’ textile.
