Inside the Lynggaard Apartment: A World of Refinement
This month, we are delighted to step inside the world of the Lynggaard Apartment—an extraordinary apartment created for private hosting and unique events. The apartment is an exquisite family concept: a personal universe with a refined sense of aesthetics, curated details, and a homely atmosphere designed to host and inspire.
Helene Blanche : Can you tell us a little about the Lynggaard Apartment and the story behind its creation?
Sofia & Laura : The idea behind creating the Ole Lynggaard Apartment was to build a home that truly reflects the spirit of OLC: a sense of warmth that we can invite people into. Whether through private jewelry styling sessions, intimate events, or simply stepping into a space that showcases art, textiles, books, and sources of inspiration by Sofia & Charlotte Lynggaard—the goal has always been to create a space where people feel both welcome and inspired.
The apartment is also an experience in itself—just 15 minutes from central Copenhagen, yet close to nature and local life. Here, you’re close to the water, Dyrehaven, parks, neighborhood bakeries and restaurants. It’s a place for those who value thoughtful design, who want to feel at home away from home, who like the idea of slipping into a bathrobe and strolling down to the water.
Every detail of the apartment was carefully chosen to make guests feel at home, while also celebrating collaboration with local partners and giving back to the community around us. Since 1963, this has been our home ground, and it’s important for us to highlight the life, creativity, and local spirit that surrounds the company.
As a family-owned business, opening our doors in this way feels deeply personal—like inviting people into our own home. We’ve always loved hosting within our own universe, and as a lifestyle brand rooted in identity and spirit, creating this apartment has been a long-time dream.
The apartment sits right above our headquarters—open the curtains in the morning and you’re looking straight down into the workshop, where our goldsmiths are bringing jewelry to life. And most importantly—it’s possible to book a stay, and experience this universe for yourself.
Helene Blanche: Decorative textiles and soft layering clearly have a strong presence throughout the interiors. How do you use these fabrics to decorate and elevate the surroundings, and what role do they play in shaping atmosphere, aesthetics, and refinement across the rooms?
Sofia & Laura: The selection of textiles, curtains, bedding, and even the headboards was all about creating warmth, color, and a sense of coziness. That became an important way to differentiate the three rooms and give each of them a distinct atmosphere and experience. We worked with tones and textures that could shape the universe and the overall aesthetic of the apartment. At the core, we simply chose fabrics we genuinely loved—materials we would use in our own homes. In that way, the choices became very personal, rooted in our own sense of style and comfort.
Helene Blanche: The apartment is filled with an impressive mix of decorative pieces—antique, vintage, and collected treasures. What is the story behind this love of collecting, and how do these pieces, with their history and refinement, come together to form the heart of your home?
Sofia & Laura: We’ve always been collectors, so when shaping the apartment, we drew directly from our own world—bringing in chess sets, sculptures, artworks, and treasured objects we’ve gathered over the years. The vision was to create a space that feels deeply personal, almost like stepping into our own home. Even the smallest details reflect this: the glasses are the very ones we drink from; the kitchen tools are those we cook with, the coffee is the blend we start our mornings with, and the bathroom products are chosen from our own daily rituals. Every element comes from our personal life, making the experience both authentic and intimate.
