Fabric Plain Moiré - Archive
Charcoal
Printed width 140 cm / 50% Cotton / 50% Linen / sold per metre
The unique composition of cotton and linen makes the moiré seem crisp and elegant. The weaving technique stems from the early 1800s and derives from the French verb ‘moirer’: to produce a watered textile by weaving or pressing. The effect of the fabric is obtained by the craftsman by moving the fabric by hand between the cylinders, which determines the characteristic wavy pattern. The moiré produces a subtle colour-changing effect of gloss and matte which adds to the decadent and glamorous expression of the fabric. Plain Moiré is available in the colour Charcoal.
